Its Friday people and you know what that means; Fashion Beauty Friend Friday questions. Yay!
Last week I forgot all about the questions I was just so busy and I missed out on the nominations, oh well.
So you want to know how I get sort of glammed up? Well I kinda don’t wear make up to hide anything, no seriously. I wear make up to look older, I notice the difference in what I look like with and without make up. The days I don’t wear makeup people think I look like a teenager and the days I do people think I look about 25. I am 31. People think its great and all to look young, but why? So people can treat you different and meld you in with the immature teenagers? I know not all youngens are immature, but 75% of them are. I've had guys for example that I met that originally didn’t want to talk to me at a party because they thought I was jail bait, not good. Remember first impressions is what people see.
I tried wearing make up to cover my huge ass pores, ugly rosacea and scars on my face but I haven't figured that one out. So I stick with the basics, I think its better that way I don’t clog those huge pores with useless make-up. But I do use liners, mascaras, eye shadows and lipsticks.
What is in my makeup bag.
MAC blush in Mocha Matte, NYC shadow in Manhattan Mist, eyelash curler, Aveda eye definer pencil in Cacao, Smashbox high definition conceler in Light, ELF lipstick in Classic, Rimmel eye brow pencil in Hazel, Benefit highbeam highlighter, Rimmel chunky all over pencil in Strength, Revlon eye brow tweezer, Rimmel Volume Flash mascara in Extreme Black.
I keep a few other things in my make up bag like bobbie pins, clips and hair ties.
Beauty products
1. What's your favorite drug store makeup product and your favorite higher-end product? I like the Rimmel brand for eye shadows and especially their eyebrow brush. For higher end products I like MAC, granted they aren’t at the highest end but $15 for a lipstick is a bit much. But with MAC I like their eye shadows and lipsticks and when I did wear foundations I used theirs.
2. Is there one type of product that is your go-to, can't live without? Eyeliner, seriously. Even when I don’t have time to put other make up on I grab this and go. I like black for nights out but I am mostly a chocolate brown girl for the day. I can get a lot of looks out of eye liner, it can be smudged, finely lined or lined all the way around the eye. It can also make a unsightly pimple look like a Cindy Crawford-esq beauty mole. I either use an black 99 cent NYC liner or my Aveda cacao liner.
3. What's the best hair product you've ever used? I picked up a styling moose foam at T.J. Maxx a while back and I love it. On normal days I do not put any hair products in my hair other than shampoo and conditioner and maybe a spritz of hairspray to keep my bangs in place, but I use this moose when I getting dolled up or I want to have some volume in my hair when I curl it. My hair keeps the volume and style with this product for hours on end. I try to not use so many products or style my hair too much because of my thinning hair. I do not know if it is from over styling, products, lack of vitamins, or hormones so I don’t want to take chances just in case it is the over styling.

4. Fess up, what's the worst beauty look you've tried to rock and look back at now with a little shame or apprehension that you actually did that? The too light foundation, red lips and black eyeliner from back in my semi-grunge/Goth period of junior – high school. Yes I did that and it was the early 90’s to mid 90’s so a lot of other people did that. I wore a lot of vintage items during that time as well. I started wearing vintage/ thrifted clothes because that was all I could afford ( my parents made me buy my own clothes and extra things I wanted when I got my first job at 11 pet sitting.) So because I thrifted it kind of set my style. Would I do it again, actually yeah (except the too light foundation), but not on an everyday basis.
5. When it comes to beauty products, we all use the same basic products. What do you use that helps show off your personal flare and personality? Eye shadow I like to experiment with color to accentuate my blue eyes and my different uses of eye liner. Also how I style my hair, I have partial bangs so I sometimes wear them full across my forehead, side swept or pulled back. Everything really depends on what I am wearing what I am trying to portray or how I feel.
There you have it, are they beauty secret must haves, no, but this is what I do. I wish that I had great skin like so many people I see out there. I just deal with my outer beauty and hope my inner beauty is what people see.
Sometime my inner beauty is not so pretty too but I try to tame it with making my outer beauty shine. What I mean is if I am having an off day I try wearing brighter colors to lighten my mood, I swear it works 95% of the time. Everyone has those 5% days were nothing works and hope that people don’t judge us for those days.
Whatever ♥
